March 7, 2013

Google search. To many, the way this fickle search giant works is a mystery. However to SEO experts and the team here at Lure Creative, Google is a puzzle that can be solved thru the proper use of keywords, content, linking, and so on and so forth. In order to assist those who are in the dark about the numerous criteria that lead to a top search engine result, Google recently came out with an interactive infographic called How Search Works.

How Search Works Infographic

The infographic takes you through the search process beginning with the Crawling and Indexing of websites. They break this down into more detail until introducing you to step two, or the Google Algorithms. The last component of this process is called Fighting Spam. Each step along the way, Google is rating website pages against a set of criteria and only those that are of the highest quality and relevance earn a high ranking.

Search Quality Rating Guidelines

In addition to this insightful guide, Google also released their Search Quality Rating Guidelines. This hefty 43 page document is full of the guidelines given to Google’s search quality raters and provides a glimpse into the extreme detail Google puts into their search results. Search quality raters are third party individuals who rate the quality of search results.

These two documents are important to understanding the amount of work and high level of quality that goes into receiving a high search engine page rank. For more information about SEO or search engine optimization, give Lure Creative a call at (913) 649-4040.
