Marketing is complicated. There are a lot of moving parts. Sometimes, we wish we could just be blunt with the business owners we are trying to help and tell them the cold, hard truth without sounding like rude, demeaning, know-it-alls. So, in an effort to enlighten and not frighten, we give you our new blog series “You’ve Been Schooled!”. We hope it will help business owners understand marketing a little better and make better decisions with their marketing dollars. Today’s topic is marketing partners and our expert is Scott Christian.
If I could vent about (ahem…educate) business owners on working with an agency, I would tell them this:
If marketing is going to work, it has to be a partnership.
“If you really want to get the most out of your marketing agency, you have to find one that you can trust. You can’t think of them as a vendor and simply see them as a service provider. To get the best results, we have to work together. What does that look like?
You are an expert in your industry. We can’t possibly know what you know about your business. We are experts in marketing. If you trust us enough to share your expertise, your goals, your budgets, your challenges, your successes, and your failures with us, we can take that information and use it to help you gain new customers and grow your business. We need to get your story out of you because what makes you unique is what we will use to differentiate you from your competition. Our job is to make you stand out and if we don’t know you, we can’t do our job as well. You have to let us in. Our favorite clients are the clients who see us as a marketing partner, not just a service provider. We do our best work when we have mutual trust.”

And there you have it. The ideal relationship is based on trust. At Lure, we don’t have long-term contracts. If you’re not happy with your results, we’d prefer you leave us than be forced to stay. Who wants to work with someone who isn’t happy with them? We are confident that we can earn your trust each and every month with results, build a strong relationship, and find success together. Oh, and it’s also a lot more fun that way.
We hope this helps you in your quest to grow your business. Should you need marketing help, please contact Lure Creative and we will be happy to share our insight and expertise (but not in a bossy, condescending way) to help your business Get Found and Be Known.
